When
- Nov 5, 2026 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CT
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) contractor, Boh Bros, will temporarily close one of the northbound lanes of General De Gaulle Dr from Sandra Dr to Life Center Dr to facilitate a water valve replacement.
The valve replacement also requires a water closure which will temporarily disrupt your water services. While minimal customers are anticipated to lose water service entirely, all customers across the Westbank will experience lower-than-normal water pressure during the closure.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
- LOCATION: General De Gaulle Dr (northbound left hand lane) from Sandra Dr to Life Center Dr
- WORK SCHEDULE: The lane closure will begin on Thursday, November 5th and is anticipated to take place until Sunday, November 8th.
- TRAFFIC IMPACT: Northbound traffic on the left hand lane will be shifted to use the other 3 lanes of traffic.
For all traffic interruptions, signage and traffic control measures such as barrels and fencing are onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians. Crews will allow buses and emergency vehicles to pass, as needed.
WATER DISRUPTION IMPACTS:
- WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2026, beginning at 5:00PM - 9:00PM
- WHERE:
- Customers on the Westbank (lower-than-normal water pressure)
When water is restored, run your faucets for 5 minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use.
If water is not restored within one hour after end time, please contact us at the email/phone number below. Gauges will be placed and monitored by a SWBNO crew during the water valve closure. The procedure will be aborted, and the closure opened immediately if there are any unacceptable pressure losses during the closure or if any pressure gauge readings fall to 30psi.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve your sewer system.
