When
- Nov 5, 2026 10:00 PM – 3:00 PM CT
Today, Thursday, November 5, 2026, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) crews and contractor, Boh Bros, will be performing an emergency water disruption to facilitate an emergency watermain repair at Duels and Pauger streets.
Customers are not expected to lose water service entirely; however, customers east of St Bernard Ave will experience lower-than-normal water pressure. These lower-pressure conditions may last through Tues, Nov 10th, when a linestop is scheduled to be deployed. The impact area includes Gentilly, Marigny, Bywater, and the Lower Ninth Ward. Customers in New Orleans East may also experience a slight pressure reduction, although significant impacts are not anticipated due to system redundancy in that area.
To minimize the impact on customers, we are working tonight and will be closing valves starting around 10:00PM to identify the extent of the repairs. We will continue to provide updates as repair activities progress and as additional information regarding the scope of repairs and customer impacts become available.
WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2026, beginning at 10:00PM until repairs are completed. It is possible that the lower-than-normal pressure conditions will last through Tuesday, November 10th.
WHERE: Customers east of St Bernard Ave (Gentilly, Marigny, Bywater and the Lower Ninth Ward)
When water is restored, run your faucets for 5 minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use.
Gauges will be placed and monitored by a SWBNO crew during the water valve closure. The procedure will be aborted, and the closure will be opened immediately if there are any unacceptable pressure losses.
If you are outside of the expected impact area and experience low or no water pressure to report a water or sewer emergency anytime – call 504-52-WATER (504-529-2837), choose your language option and press 1 for emergency.
