Lower-Than-Normal-Pressure Anticipated to Customers East of the St Charles Canal

When

  • Oct 29, 2026 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM CT

On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) crews will be performing a TEST water closure which will temporarily disrupt your water services to facilitate isolating the watermain on Dwyer Rd at Lafon Rd ahead of future repairs. The full water closure will be scheduled at a later date. While no customers are anticipated to lose water service entirely, all customers east of the St Charles Canal may experience lower-than-normal water pressure during the test closure for approximately one hour. Water is scheduled to be turned back on immediately after confirming the water main was successfully isolated.

WHEN: Thursday, October 29, 2026, beginning at 8:30AM you may experience lower-than-normal water pressure for approximately one hour.

WHERE: Customers East of the St Charles Canal

When water is restored, run your faucets for 5 minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use.

If water is not restored within one hour after end time, please contact us at the email/phone number below. Gauges will be placed and monitored by a SWBNO crew during the water valve closure. The procedure will be aborted, and the closure opened immediately if there are any unacceptable pressure losses during the closure or if any pressure gauge readings fall to 30psi.

If you are outside of the expected impact area and experience low or no water pressure to report a water or sewer emergency anytime – call 504-52-WATER, choose your language option and press 1 for emergency.

We appreciate your patience as we work to improve your water system.
