SWBNO Announces Board of Directors Council District E Vacancy

NEW ORLEANS, LA— The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) is accepting applications for a citizen member seat on its Board of Directors.

  • Council District E Representative (vacancy effective May 21, 2025)

Applicants must:

  • Be a registered voter in Orleans Parish.
  • Have been a resident of Orleans Parish for two years prior to their appointment.
    • Applicants for the Council District vacancy must reside in the City Council District for which he or she applied.
  • Have experience in either architecture, environmental quality, finance, accounting, business administration, engineering, law, public health, urban planning, facilities management, public administration, science, construction, business management, community or consumer advocacy, or other pertinent disciplines.

SWBNO’s Board of Directors is comprised of 11 members, including the mayor, one City Council member, two Board of Liquidation—City Debt representatives, and seven citizen members. All citizen members are appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council from a list of nominees submitted by the Sewerage and Water Board Selection Committee, which includes representatives from local universities, chambers of commerce, and the Urban League of Greater New Orleans.

The Board holds committee and regular meetings monthly. These meetings are open to the public. Appointed board members serve four-year terms and cannot serve more than two consecutive terms.
