Kind of Work
Field, technical and supervisory work in directing the work of one or more Water Service Inspectors responsible for water meter reading operations. Work includes ensuring work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A valid driver's license.*
High School Diploma or GED issued by a state Department of Education.* Additional experience with the Sewerage & Water Board may be substituted for high school education, on a year- for-year basis.
Permanent status with the Sewerage and Water Board and 18 months of experience as a Water Meter Reader and Services Technician, formerly titled Water Service Inspector III.
Successful completion of the following courses offered by the Civil Service Employee Growth & Development Division or equivalent courses offered by the Sewerage and Water Board's Training Division:
Introduction to Supervision (SUPV 610)
Introduction to Workplace Discipline for First Line Supervisors (SUPV 629)
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and valid driver's license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination
A rating of training and experience weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
This is a promotional examination limited to permanent employees of the Sewerage and Water Board.
