Kind of Work
Under limited supervision, an employee in this class independently performs water purification operations at an assigned water plant for the Sewerage and Water Board. Work includes performing technical tasks in maintaining, adjusting, and monitoring activities such as chemical flows, pump operations, and sample testing. Work objectives are to provide safe drinking water to residents, industry and the general public, and to maintain regulatory compliance with EPA regulatory standards concerning drinking water standards; and related work as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED issued by a state department of education.*
2. Current Class III Water treatment License issued by the Louisianan Department of Health and Hospitals.*
Note: Some positions may require a current Louisianan Commercial Driver's License.
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination
This is a non-competitive original entrance examination. It will consist of verification and evaluation of related training and experience.
This examination is given in accordance with Rule V, Section 8.1 (b) of the City Civil Service Rules.
