City of New Orleans’ Sanitation Fee to be Waived on November SWBNO Bill

The City of New Orleans will waive the November 2021 sanitation fee of $24 included on residents’ Sewerage and Water Board (SWBNO) bills to provide a measure of financial relief from inconsistent trash pickups leading up to and following Hurricane Ida.

This one-time waiver will be reflected on November bills sent to residential customers. The billing cycle begins November 4, 2021, which means some customers at the end of the billing cycle may not see the waiver reflected until early December.

SWBNO acts as a billing agent for the City of New Orleans, and collects payments on behalf of the City’s Sanitation Department for trash and recycling collection services.

Customers should contact the City at 311 with questions about trash and recycling pickup or to apply for a garbage cart. More information on trash collection and schedules can also be found by visiting the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation Website.

Customers should contact the SWBNO Customer Service at 52-WATER with billing questions or email customerservice@swbno.org.

FAQ:
Why does the City of New Orleans sanitation charge show up on my SWBNO bill?

SWBNO collaborates with the City’s Sanitation Department to reduce the number of bills New Orleanians receive, which results in more efficient use of public resources.
