SWBNO Continues Fire Hydrant Repairs Uptown

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 24, 2020 2:16 PM

New Orleans – This weekend, July 25 and 26, 2020, Sewerage and Water Board will continue repairs on multiple fire hydrants throughout the city. A map of the locations is attached with Saturday closures in red and Sunday closures in purple, weather permitting. Since planned hydrant repairs began three weeks ago, a total of 20 fire hydrants have been repaired.

Valve closures will begin on both days from 7 a.m. with water restoration expected by 7 p.m. During these repairs, some residents and businesses will likely experience low to no water pressure. The water closures will occur at various times throughout the days with the length of the closures varying with the severity of the jobs.

Because fire hydrants are connected to water mains, there will be residents who are not necessarily near a hydrant who may experience low to no water pressure for a short period of time. That is why we want to ensure that all residents are alerted of the possibility of a brief water loss.

Our crews will work as swiftly as possible to minimize the inconvenience.

We encourage customers in the area to make any necessary preparations and to call 52-WATER immediately if they experience a drop in pressure.

We appreciate the patience of our customers while we work to improve our water system.
