Water main repair along Mardi Gras Boulevard underway

For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 30, 2020 3:27 PM

To improve the reliability of your water service, we are conducting repairs to a 12-inch water pipe near the canal along Mardi Gras Boulevard, close to Gen. de Gaulle Drive and the Westbank Expressway.

We are closing valves Thursday, Jan. 30 in that area to shut off water flowing through that pipe section. We do not anticipate this work to impact customers’ water pressure, but we will closely monitor conditions throughout the project. If you experience low water pressure near this worksite, please contact us at 52-WATER (92837).

Water valves are used to regulate the flow of water through our distribution system. When closed, they can isolate a section of pipe to allow us to repair breaks or replace entire sections.

We estimate this repair may take up to two weeks to complete because of its complicated nature and proximity to the canal bank. We are working diligently to finish sooner.

A map of the location is attached.
